Eligibility Criteria

The Halt-MS Study is no longer accepting new subjects. Only individuals who have completed the online prescreener on or before August 3, 2009 will be contacted to discuss their potential eligibility. Thank you for your interest.

In order to participate in the Halt-MS study, individuals must meet the following criteria:

you have been diagnosed with relapsing-remitting or progressive-relapsing multiple sclerosis for less than 15 years (using the McDonald Criteria)
you score between 3.0 and 5.5 on the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) (you can walk without an assistive device)
MRI shows T2 abnormalities consistent with MS
You have had 2 or more relapses in the past 18 months, despite being on interferon, glatiramer acetate, natalizumab (Tysabri®), or cytotoxic therapy

Individuals may not participate if any of the following are true:

you have primary progressive MS
you have secondary progressive MS without relapses for 12 or more months
you have neuromyelitis optica (a disease similar to MS)
you have other medical conditions that physicians deem would increase the risks to receiving this type of treatment
